The Online Club: Moving Sculptures II
Whether they are a playful reflection on technology or a meditation on change, moving sculptures turn static objects into experiential art that engages the viewer.
Join us in exploring the fascinating world of kinetic sculpture. Discover three artists who transform materials, machines, and nature into dynamic experiences.
Speakers
Guided by his love for making, in 1998 Willi Reiche (DE) developed his moving âKunstmaschinenâ. Discarded objects and machine parts come to life, creating a humorous comment on a past when technology was still tactile and controllable.
"The beauty of my machines lies in their uselessness."
The starting point for Bart Nijboer (NL) is his perception of the processes of growth and decay and the infinite changes of nature. His sensitive moving sculptures and installations are an expression of the pulsating motions of life itself.
"In my work I try to capture the sense that the whole world is alive."
Christina Sporrong (SE) lives and works in New Mexico, US, and Lund, SE. She is a blacksmith, welder, educator, and force of nature, creating the world she wants to live in. She dreams up large projects and fabricates them in steel using fire, scale, movement, and sound to engage the audience.
"There is a growing incompatibility between human technologies and nature."
Hosted and modereted by curator Anne Berk.
