Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy

Sculpture Network is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout its members, activities, governance, and international collaborations.

As a European network for sculpture and contemporary art, we foster an open and respectful environment in which artists and cultural professionals from different backgrounds, generations, identities, and perspectives can participate equally.

Diversity and representation are reflected in our organisational structure, communication, and public programme. Women are strongly represented within both the team and leadership of the organisation, while our team members and volunteers currently come from 13 different countries. Our international membership spans more than 40 countries, encouraging intercultural dialogue and artistic exchange across diverse cultural contexts.

We actively seek balanced visibility and participation across our events, publications, and newsletters, and regularly engage with questions of representation, accessibility, and inclusion in the arts. Examples include the event “Do We Need Museums for Women Artists?”, the online event “Beyond the Visual – Blindness and Expanded Sculpture”, and “Bodytalk – Our Fragile Body” in cooperation with the Wellcome Collection, featuring artists engaging with disability and the human body. Our forums and discussions also include diverse international voices and speakers, including artists from LGBTQ+ and post-colonial diaspora communities. For our members we organize curated trips to the Venice Biennale to discuss and evaluate works from artists with different cultural backgrounds and perspectives.

We oppose discrimination of any kind and support equal access to artistic exchange, professional opportunities, and cultural participation regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic background, religion, disability, age, or social background. The next five years, Sculpture Network will strive for a more inclusive membership base of artists and partnerships with platforms that focus on making artists from the post-colonial diaspora more visible.
