John Atkin
John Atkin MA RCA FRSS is a British sculptor whose work spans drawing, collage, and large-scale public sculpture. A Henry Moore Scholar at the Royal College of Art, his practice explores movement, drapery, and the transformation of gesture into form. Recent works extend cut and patterned fragments into wall-based constructions that occupy real space, operating between drawing and sculpture. Atkin has realised major commissions internationally, including in China, where his sculptures engage with cultural exchange and urban context. His work is rooted in a disciplined, process-led approach, translating studio-based systems into materially resolved forms that balance structure, tension, and spatial flow across scales.
John Atkin MA RCA FRSS is a British sculptor whose practice spans drawing, collage, and large-scale public works. His work traces movement through line, surface, and mass, translating fleeting gesture into enduring form. Rooted in a dialogue between tradition and digital process, he employs CAD, 3D printing, and casting to extend sculptural language into contemporary space. Atkin’s internationally recognised projects include major commissions in China, where his work engages urban context, cultural memory, and architectural scale. A Reader in Fine Art at Loughborough University, he continues to explore sculpture as a dynamic interface between body, material, and environment.
