7. Skulpturen-Triennale Bingen 2026: Connection and Cohesion

From May 16 to October 4, 2026, the 7th Sculpture Triennial in Bingen am Rhein will take place under the title CONNECTION AND COHESION. As in previous editions, around 20 artistic positions will be presented along the Rhine waterfront and at selected locations in Bingen’s city center, including three site-specific works created through the Triennial’s newly established funding program.

At a time of profound political and social change, when many things seem to be drifting apart, the Triennial focuses on connection and cohesion. The 7th edition brings together artists whose works address questions of stability, belonging, and social strength. The sculptures reflect, both conceptually and materially, on what holds people, materials, and ideas together. Alongside traditional sculpture, the exhibition features performative and participatory works that connect places and bring people together.

With this thematic focus, curators Sara Bernshausen and Lutz Driever seek not only to encourage artistic reflection on living together, but also to strengthen existing local networks and establish new ones by involving residents, associations, initiatives, and institutions—connections intended to remain active beyond the Triennial itself.

The upcoming edition also marks the launch of a new funding program. Thanks to a private bequest, the Foundation is enabling three artists – Emilia Neumann, BA Sela, and Max Brück – to create new works for the exhibition in Bingen in 2026 and again in 2029.
