Museum Haus Konstruktiv is pleased to present the first solo exhibition by Athene Galiciadis (*1978 in Altstätten, lives and works in Zurich) in a Zurich museum. On view are large-format paintings, painted sculptures, light objects, and structures of temporary dwellings, so-called "shelters", which are woven into an exciting overall installation on site.
In the exhibition on the third floor of Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Galiciadis integrates her paintings and sculptures into temporary architectural structures. These are made of sewn-together sheets and cords, which are stretched out in the cabinets and mirrored against them in the columned hall to form a total of four walk-in tent-like formations. These "Shelters" express the artist's longstanding interest in different human dwellings, in their sculptural quality, and in the question of how these dwellings create temporary orders and hierarchies in ever-new places.
