Egyptian Goddess of the Heavens
Originally the goddess of the sky, Nuit evolved into the personification of the sky and the heavens. It was thought that Nuit brought on the sunset by swallowing the sun god, Ra, and night descended from the sky with the meeting of two goddesses, Nut and Geb. Finally, as described in the Book of the Dead, Ra was reborn the following morning at sunrise to Nuit.
