Andreas Rimpel

Maschinenmensch (Machineman)

In Machine Man, Andreas Rimpel condenses the relationship between humanity and technology into a concentrated, almost iconic head study. Through his Cubist-inspired visual language, he reduces the face to angular volumes and architectural planes. Despite the solidity and rigidity of its form, the sculpture conveys a distinct sense of fragility. The head appears simultaneously human and constructed — a hybrid of personality and mechanism.
