CONTROL PASSAGE AT THE DRAINAGE SLUICE
6960 Hvide Sande
Denmark

Art in the sluice 2025

As a sculptor, I dedicate my work to the element of water - its aesthetic power, its biological diversity and its significance as a source and habitat. I am particularly fascinated by the survival strategies of micro-organisms and single-celled organisms that have developed in the course of evolution, as well as the benefits that humans derive from them. At the same time, I am concerned with the fragility of these systems and the consequences of human activity, such as marine pollution, plastic waste or the planned mining of methane nodules in the deep sea. In my series of works, I specifically address such themes and work them into sculptures - such as coral bleaching or the barely explored deep sea as a place of mystery and threat at the same time. The sculptures are an expression of an intensive examination of the relationship between humans and nature - and the question of how responsibility and design can be combined.
The decision to move to Jutland on the Danish coast in 2021 was a natural consequence of my artistic path. Here, close to the sea, I experience the maritime landscape as a daily source of inspiration. The interplay of nature, light and water flows directly into my work - both thematically and formally.
