15th International Snow Sculpture Competition

Organizer and theme

As the organizer of the 15th International Snow Sculpture Competition from 12.01 to 17.01.2025 in the Klausberg ski area in Steinhaus (Ahrntal), the Tourist Association Ahrntal is responsible. The theme is "GAMES: From digital worlds to classic games". The snow sculptures should be of a certain stability so that they can be admired for as long as possible.

Participants

Sculptors from all over the world can participate in the competition. From all competitors, 10 teams are selected to participate in the competition. A team can consist of a maximum of 2 people (adults). Groups of students (2 people) plus an adult teacher can also participate.

End of November: publication of the selected artists with confirmation or cancellation by the jury.

Organising Committee Performance

1. Accommodation and meals for participants from 12/01 to 17/01/2025
2. The top six finishers receive a cash prize
3. Reimbursement of travel costs: Each participating team will receive €0.20 (net) reimbursement for each kilometer from the place of origin. Each group will be paid a maximum of €280.00 net (Europe) or €520.00 net (other continents) in reimbursement.

Arrival by public transport is recommended in terms of sustainability.

Any extras (bar, telephone, drinks etc.) will not be refunded.

Snow blocks

Measurements: (3m x 3m x 3m). Blocks will be awarded by drawing lots on 12.01.2025.

Equipment

Snow blocks are made from snow, ice and water. The organization provides the following tools: 2 shovels, 1 ladder, 1 bucket and 1 ice axe. In addition, each participant will be able to bring their own personal tools.

Working hours

Every day from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The works must be completed by 16/01/2025 (about 3.00 pm)

Insurance

The organiser rejects any liability towards third parties. The participants are responsible for insurance.

Award ceremony and public vote

The winner will be selected by a jury on 16/01/2025 in the afternoon. The first six classified will be awarded cash prizes.

• arrival of the participating artists
• Free time: possible advice on the workplaces (they are located at the mountain station of the K2 cable car at 2500 m above sea level). Ski passes (free of charge) can be picked up at the ticket office at the valley station of the Klausberg ski area.

• 8.30 p.m.: official reception, allocation of seats, regulations
