The special in everyday life: Munich's subway stations

Diversity underground: On 28 June, sculpture network invites you on a guided tour through artistically designed underground stations in Munich, titled "Art in the Underground" - complete with a slide show by Lothar Schiffler

Commuting does not have to be boring! Underground stations are no longer purely functional, but are increasingly developing into consciously designed art spaces. Mr. Dipl. Ing. Ralf Wulf (Head of Construction Department Civil Engineering) and Mr. Dipl. Ing. Manfred Rossiwal-Jespersen (Architect Subject Area Manager H54) present this diversity during a guided tour through selected underground stations. They provide unique insights into the background of construction and design. Munich photographer Lothar Schiffler opens the evening with his dynamic "MetroArt" photos from all over Europe.

In a fast-moving society, transport and traffic play an increasingly important role. Humans spend a lot of time getting from A to B and are more and more often in public places - i.e. at railway stations. How the design of such intermediate spaces can influence and enrich human existence is the focus of this dialogue. Lothar Schiffler has been working on this topic for a long time: over the years he has photographed over 300 stations throughout Europe. His pictures are characterized by dynamics, colors and movement. Interested parties can get a foretaste on his homepage: http://lothar-schiffler.de/metroart/

The event starts at 18.30 in the Pelkovenschlössl, Moosacher St.-Martins-Platz 2. Due to the limited number of participants please register in time  HERE.
The participation fee of € 10,- (for members: € 3,-) already includes travel costs during the guided tour of the stations.
