The Danilovgrad art colony has been gathering famous vajars since 1972. The colony devalues financial resources, determines the dates of the symposium, invites artists, preserves works and organizes their presentation and affirmation in the country and the world. Ever since its pioneering steps, more precisely since 1972 when it was founded at the Center for Culture Danilovgrad, the Art Colony has emerged from municipal frameworks and taken on a republican and federal character. In 1974, she was visited by the first foreign artists through the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. The colony worked for a year under the patronage of the factory "Mermer" from Danilovgrad. After a year, the Art Colony was returned to the Danilovgrad Center for Culture.With her organization and quality of work, she fought for her greatest recognition - to be included in international institutions. It has been visited for many years by many artists from abroad, and, based on reciprocity, the Colony refers to the creative work of artists from Montenegro into foreign colonies. The Danilovgrad Art Colony is the originator of nurturing, realizing and performing sculptures for free space, so as such it is unique and very significant for the development of fine culture in this area. Danilovgrad is currently one of the few cities in the area of the former Yugoslavia, and the only one in Montenegro, with a gallery in free space, with more than a hundred sculptures of gallery and spatial format. Decision of the founder and Board of Directors of the Art Colony Danilovgrad from 01.07.1999.the year begins to work as an independent institution striving as such to re-hope for its place on the international cultural scene.History of the Colony
Since 1972 the Art Colony Danilovgrad has been the place where you can meet the sculptors. Colony's field of work are: commissioning the financial resources, fixing the terms for the workhops, inviting the artists, reserving the work of art and organization their relocation and affirmation in the country and abroad. Since it was beautiful (or precisionly since 1972) when the Colony was found at the Center for Culture Danilovgrad it didn’t have only the municipal but the republic and federal character. In 1974 the first foreign artists than the Montenegro Academy of Science and Art hanging it. The Colony had a contract under the sponsorship of the factor „Mermer” Danilovgrad for one year in its past. After that and became a part of the Center for Culture Danilovgrad.Thanks to the organization and quality of the Colony it re-ived the great possible recognition – it became one of the international institutions. For many years it has been hung by the great number of foreign artists and on the base of reciprocity, the Colony has sent a lot of artists from Montenegro in the foreign colonies to improve their creativity. The Art Colony Danilovgrad has been the originator of the emperor and realization of the sculptures for open ground and that makes the Colony excellent and very important for the improvisation of art in art this area. Danilovgrad is one of the rare cities in the region of the form Yugoslavia and unique in Montenegro which possess the art gallery in open ground with the land of the land of the sculptures of the gallery ground size.By the decision of the founder and the administrative committee of the Colony from June 1st, 1999 the Art Colony became the indexendent institution, which try to find again its place at the international cultural stage.
