Kunstverein & Stiftung Springhornhof

Art in village and landscape

Around the Heidendorf Neuenkirchen you can explore a „ Museum in Wald und Wiese “ with as forty landscape works of art by international artists.
In the middle of the village, the Kunstverein shows changing exhibitions of contemporary art in the former stables of the Springhornhof. In the threshing floor, the myvillages group of artists runs a „ international village shop “. There is space on the Heuboden for lectures, workshops and discussions. In the orchard, the sculptor HAWOLI, who lives and works here, shows his sculptures. The chicken coop serves as a guest studio and in the old stairwell there is the „ Institute for Paleolithic Archeology “ by the artist Mark Dion.

Landscape art

The Springhornhof is the sponsor of one of the pioneering landscape art projects in Europe. Since the 1970s, internationally renowned artists such as Tony Cragg, Timm Ulrichs, Micha Ullman, Mark Dion, Elmgreen & Dragset, Christiane Möbus or Dan Peterman, invited to develop location-related works in dialogue with the landscape.

More than forty artistic interventions fit gently into the natural environment, seek the sculptural contrast, create exciting spaces, make natural processes tangible or draw attention to traces of historical changes.

The embedding of the works in an old cultural landscape, the experience in the changing seasons and the experience of artistic and natural processes are what make the Neuenkirchen „ art landscape “ so special.

Art education

The art education of the Springhornhof invites you to approach the works of art in the art association and outside in the landscape in a variety of ways.

Exploring the exhibitions and landscape works of art, sharing and experimenting with ordinary and unusual materials opens up unimagined approaches to artistic work. The different perspectives of the participants are included and further developed in relation to the works of art. All projects and offers go „ from art from “ ( Eva Sturm ).

The tours, workshops and holiday programs are aimed at children, young people and adults and can be perceived individually and as a group. In addition to the discussion about the works of art, most of the offers contain a practical part and can be booked all year round.

The publication Go on from art – gives an overview of the offers and formats of art education.
