Sculpture Symposium "Pillar of Democracy"

From June 8–12, 2026, sculptures on the theme “Pillars of Democracy” will be created in public at the square in front of the Wiesloch City Gallery, daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Six sculptors from different regions of Germany will work on their artworks in full view of the public, creating visible symbols of democratic values, social cohesion, and European dialogue. The completed sculptures will remain in Wiesloch and become part of the European project European Sculpture Path.

📍 Location: In front of the Wiesloch City Gallery
⏰ Working Hours: Daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

🔹 Official Opening Ceremony: Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2:45 PM, with the Mayor of Wiesloch and the project’s supporting partners.

🔹 Information Booth: Open daily from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, offering insights into the symposium, the participating artists, and the European art initiative behind the project.

Join us to experience sculpture in the making, meet the artists, and celebrate art as a powerful expression of democracy and community.

Sculpture Symposium

The non-profit association “Art Moves Europe e. V.” regularly invites sculptors from across Europe to participate in symposia. The goal is to promote art in public spaces and to strengthen cultural exchange and dialogue about the European ideal.

The resulting works will become part of the Europe-wide “European Sculpture Path” project and serve as a visible symbol of democratic values and cohesion.

For 2026, the Kulturforum südl. Bergstr. e.V. invites you to Wiesloch as the venue where sculptures on the theme “Pillars of Democracy” will be created.

The resulting ensemble of sculptures will remain in Wiesloch. The date and location of the unveiling will be announced by the City of Wiesloch. This project is supported by the Partnership for Democracy Wiesloch and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education as part of the federal program “Demokratie leben!” (Living Democracy!), as well as by the Lions Club Wiesloch.
