In Recovery Position, Andreas Rimpel addresses a moment of extreme human vulnerability. The reclining figure exists in a state between consciousness and unconsciousness, between protection and helpless exposure. The title refers to a life-saving act, making care, responsibility, and human solidarity the central subject of the work.
Despite its monumental presence, the sculpture does not convey strength but fragility. Its angular, Cubist-reduced forms reveal a universal condition: the human being in a moment of dependence on the help of others.
In 2024, the work was exhibited at the 9th Swiss Triennial of Sculpture in Bad Ragartz / Vaduz.
