Emerging Sculptor Awards Night
Monday, 26 February 2024, 8 pm CET

Sculpture Network, Europe's leading network for three-dimensional art, is pleased to announce the winners of the Emerging Sculptor Award 2024.

For the first time, three prizes will be awarded to promote the artistic development of young sculptors. The 1st prize of 3,500 euros goes to Ruta Putramentaite, the 2nd prize of 2,500 euros goes to Jindřiška Jabůrkova and the 3rd prize of 1,500 euros goes to Nevena Ekimova (BG).

The artist Ruta Putramentaite deals with the meaning of being human in the Anthropocene. She questions the future of humanity and reveals the interconnectedness of industrial and natural processes in her fragile installations. Ruta Putramentaite (*1989, Lithuania) studied photography in Middlesex, University London and graduated from UMPRUM in Prague (sculpture studio of Edith Jeřabkova and Dominik Lang).

In Jindřiška Jabůrkova's spatial installations, inanimate matter seems to come to life. The residue of human activity is reabsorbed by nature. Their desolate landscapes make you think about how humanity exploits the earth. Jindřiška Jabůrkova (1995, Czech Republic) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

Nevena Ekimova's sculptures and installations are visually striking and tactile at the same time; they invite interaction. The artist explores both the power dynamics in relationships and Bulgaria's cultural heritage. By using recycled fabrics, her work is, so to speak, a homage to the textile traditions of the city of Gabrovo, Bulgaria. Nevena Ekimova (*1984, Bulgaria) was trained in Norway, Iceland and the Swedish Art Academy Valand.
