A detour from Berlin Art Week to the 31st Rohkunstbau

Why not join us on a trip to the contemporary art exhibition ‘The Art of Going Beyond’ at the Baroque palace in Altdöbern, in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district?

On the final day of Berlin Art Week 2026, we’ll take the train from Berlin Ostkreuz to Altdöbern at 1 pm and visit the Baroque castle where the highly acclaimed 31st ROHKUNSTBAU exhibition is taking place.

Following a welcome and an introduction to the history of ROHKUNSTBAU by Inka Thunecke, a board member of the Verein der Freunde des Rohkunstbau e.V., we will visit this year’s exhibition, ‘The Art of Transgression’, curated by Christoph Tannert.

What is the new? And how does it come into being? The 31st ROHKUNSTBAU explores the possibilities and limits of transforming the existing. The exhibition focuses on the perspective of those acting within a pre-structured order – in short: on the logic of transcending the given to achieve something new. In doing so, the 31st ROHKUNSTBAU will also fuel legitimate doubts as to whether everything that is new is necessarily better, thereby putting modernity’s paradigm of progress to the test.

Afterwards, we will gather at the Orangerie for the SN Showroom over coffee and cake. There will also be time here for the SN Showroom, where we can exchange ideas amongst ourselves.
