After the Afternoon Regionale 26

Sixteen artistic positions gather in a landscape shaped by slow change, half-empty spaces, and quiet distortions. The works share a muted intensity, the kind that lingers in backyards, waiting rooms, and late afternoons that feel too long. Somewhere in the background, a town slowly folds in on itself. The streetlights hum. A dog barks once, then stops. Something is always about to happen, but never arrives.

Through subtle and strange gestures, the works trace the textures of a place where habits settle, childhood fades, and change seeps in sideways. What remains is a feeling: Not quite melancholic, not quite surreal, just a little bit off.

With Nefeli Chrysa Avgeris, Linus Baumeler, Dorota Gawęda & Eglė Kulbokaitė, Matthias Gmeiner, Sebastian Haas, Claire Hannicq, Adrian Huber, Dana Iskakova, Lisa Jäger, Leonie Kellein, Alessandra Leta, Enrico Luisoni, Macha Ovtchinnikova, TinTin Patrone, Miriam Schmitz, and Kelly Tissot

The exhibition is part of Regionale 26 and curated by Mohamed Almusibli, Yana Kadykova, and Lena Katharina Reuter.

This annual group exhibition is conceived in the context of the Regionale, a cross-border cooperation of 20 institutions in France, Germany, and Switzerland, with a focus on contemporary production by artists local to the three-country region around Basel.
