Lviv Sculpture Week 2025

From September 9

Installation of two works by German sculptor Georg Wolf — David and Quattro Curvi — in collaboration with Jam Factory.

David is a fighter for freedom, a symbolic figure who dares to stand up to a giant and defeats him. David embodies courage and determination. It is precisely these qualities, together with the flexibility of the "smaller" opponent, that allow him to overcome the slow-moving giant. The upward-reaching form of the sculpture, with a slight widening, conveys the dynamics of liberation and creates a play of light and shadow, enhancing the effect of "openness."
Also — installation of the sculpture Quattro Curvi at Jam Factory.

September 25 – October 30

Installation of 15 sculptural interventions by artist Denys Shymanskyi.

Throughout September–October, the author plans to install over 15 "Dialogues." This is a special route through the city of Lviv — from the monument to Fedorov to the railway station, from Koliyivshchyna Square to St. George's Cathedral. You will see the artist's "small" interventions in the urban environment: figures that conduct their own dialogue with specific personalities, monuments, or churches. Sculptures will appear in the city gradually throughout September–October; you can follow the “life" of the project on the author's Instagram page.

From September 25

Sculpture Route 2.0 in Stryiskyi Park from the collection of the Yuriy Stashkiv Foundation “ChervoneChorne."

We all remember The Confident One; this year the collection will once again delight the people of Lviv with new additions along the park's upper alley — works by both Ukrainian and international sculptors.

September 30

Installation of the sculpture Dialogues by Volodymyr Semkiv near the ZUNR monument.
The Legs will come to "visit" the monuments: a provocative dialogue-sculpture — two large wooden feet that will move around the city during Sculpture Week, "visiting" various monuments. According to Socrates, dialogue is based on conflict — the questions that arise between objects, provoked by the author.

September 31

  • Transportation of old, forgotten fragments of past sculptures to the Heritage Pavilion at Petrushevych Square.
  • Installation of the sculpture Book of Memory by Ivan Brezvyn in the square of the Bernardine Monastery.

October 10 – November 10

Opening of the exhibition Glyptotheque at the Lviv Polytechnic National University (Kniazia Romana Street).

A new format of cooperation between the city, art, and educational institutions. The exhibition can be visited for a month: presenting the "treasures" of Lviv Polytechnic's Department of Restoration in dialogue with contemporary art. Materials prepared in collaboration with Polytechnic experts — Mykola Bevz, Oleh Rybchynskyi — as well as curator Pavlo Gudimov and art critic Diana Klochko.

From October 15

Installation of Bubble by Volodymyr Semkiv opposite the Opera House.
A place that once served as a stage for ideological monuments — from the Adolf Hitler Ring to the Lenin monument — has now, in essence, turned into a “Bubble."

Also, installation of the sculpture Squeezed near the Les Kurbas Theater.

From October 19

Installation of the sculpture Dido + exhibition project by Serhii Makhno Design Studio at the Lviv Skansen.
Dido is a contemporary rethinking of traditional Ukrainian ceramics combined with Japanese philosophy.

October 29

Opening of the exhibition Age of the Ignorant at the MONO space.
A competition of young sculpture: about creativity that can be realized not only by professional sculptors. Any young person aged 16–35 may submit an application, create a model, and take part in the exhibition. The winner will have the opportunity to install a sculpture in the city the following year.

From October 30

  • Installation of the sculpture Hand with Two Thumbs by Lithuanian sculptor Mykolas Saukos on Lesia Ukrainka Street, supported by the Lithuanian Culture Institute and the Embassy of Lithuania in Ukraine.
  • Installation of the Thunderbolt installation by Ruslan Tremba on Mytna Square, in collaboration with the Vocational College MVPVATB (Interregional Higher Vocational School of Motor Transport and Construction).

October 31

Conference of partners and participants “Sculpture in Public Space."

From November

Installation of the fountain sculpture The Abduction of Europa by Yaroslav Motyka in Stryiskyi Park.

Exhibition Admiration by Yaroslav Motyka can be viewed at Ya Gallery Lviv (8 Shota Rustaveli Street) from September 4 to November 30, 2025.
The exhibition by Yaroslava Motyka can be seen at Ya Gallery Penthouse (20 Zelena Street) from September 19 to November 30, 2025.
