Wagehe Raufi: The Borrowed House—Shell in Transition
First pop-up
The Pop-up Kunsthalle zu Kiel series presents contemporary artistic positions at unexpected locations in the city of Kiel during the closure of the museum for refurbishment. New, site-specific productions are usually created in public spaces, in temporary uses or as guest performances. In this way, the closed Kunsthalle opens up to the urban community and invites visitors to experience art in everyday life.
The programme starts with the Berlin-based artist Wagehe Raufi (*1990). In her works, she explores the experiential worlds of analogue and digital spaces and their relationship to one another. She continues this exploration with her multimedia installation The Borrowd House - Shell in Transition in Kiel. She is transforming the glass porch of the Kunsthalle, which is closed for renovation, into a colourful and material-rich terrarium with an LED wall. From 23 May to 31 August 2025, a naked hermit crab will find a new home in the glass Sunder-Plassmann building.Â
