The fascination of bronze casting - from the workshop to the museum
Visit to the Rieke bronze casting workshop in Worpswede and the exhibition by Thomas Duttenhoefer in the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus, Bremen
Experience the art of bronze casting up close
This dialogue takes us into the fascinating world of bronze casting. In the Rieke bronze casting workshop, located in the famous artists' village of Worpswede, we immerse ourselves in the elaborate creation process - from the first model to the finished cast. A special highlight: a bronze casting is prepared especially for our group so that we can experience the impressive moment when the glowing hot bronze flows into the mould. During the tour, there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and bring your own small models to discuss the casting process and possible challenges.
Afterwards, there will be time for discussion and networking over lunch in Worpswede - you are welcome to bring your own catalogues or photos.
The second part of the day will take us to the Gerhard Marcks House in Bremen. An exclusive guided tour of the exhibition by Darmstadt artist Thomas Duttenhoefer awaits us here. The museum, which is also a member of Sculpture Network, presents the multifaceted cosmos of his work - from early phases to his most recent sculptures, including numerous bronze sculptures.
