Labyrinth of the Future

With her Labyrinth of the Future, Bianca Runge wants to confront the viewer with the reality of our time, but also offer hope through her art. She inspires us to think about the interconnectedness of all living things and the important role trees play in sustaining our planet.

She creates a fairytale forest with totem trees. Each totem tells its own story, to show how we interact with nature. Discarded jewelry and other remnants of prosperity proliferate across the aluminum trunks. Like fungi or bugs, they try to find a way and thus symbolize our consumer society. Cut open carpets form the paths of the labyrinth, to take the step to recognize things and find the power to choose.
She invites visitors to be amazed and to look at the trees with different eyes as an important part of nature, so that awareness is created about our own share (our footprint) and about alternatives. Her work does not provide answers but invites reflection, to reconsider what we find important and how we relate to it. An impetus to regenerative thinking; towards contributing to nature restoration, where we give something back to nature, of which we are a part, and where the core is the connection with nature.
From memory to the future
In contrast to her exhibition Labyrinth of Memories in October 2024 in the Grote Kerk in Veere, Labyrinth of the Future in the Maria Magdelena Church in Goes focuses on the future. The key words here are regeneration and hope. Unexpected connections are made from different senses. Seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting. This is reflected in various side activities. There will also be a small studio where visitors can make a hopeful contribution themselves. Visitors of all ages are invited to think about the future and share this as a reflection on the exhibition.
