The Conflictive and Contradictory
An exhibition with works of art by Tin Ayala, Parisa Babaei, Emma Ben Aziza, Maéva Conderolle, Simon Gabourg.
The five artists in the exhibition come from landscapes shaped by colonialism. From their inquiry into the interrelations between past, present, and future, which are deeply connected with each other, they decided to reclaim a “contradictory and contradictory diversity” that can challenge the universalising and hegemonic gaze that has historically conceived their realities. Their newl artworks seek to highlight diverse, dynamic, and contradictory perspectives in the sense of the abigarrado, a term that goes back to the Aymara sociologist and activist Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui. They open narrative strands of history and reconnect them, following the assumption that contradictory truths can emerge from the collision of contradictions. In this continuous exploration, each movement is an invitation to a deeper understanding of a mutating world.
