Enjoy Sculptura #2, an exciting presentation of  European sculpture in Gare Maritime

Friday 9 February 2024

With our Belgian coordinator, the art critic Hilde van Canneyt, we will visit Sculptura #2, in the monumental halls and surroundings of Gare Maritime, a former train station at the Tour & Taxi location in Brussels. Our guide will be Ake Verstraelen, sculpture lover and driving force behind this new Belgian sculpture festival, which he started in 2023.

This edition Sculptura #2 celebrates sculpture, featuring works in a wide range of styles, made by 40 internationally renowned artists from all corners of Europe. Part of the selection was made by a curatorial team of Sculpture Network, 4 members take part.

Aigars Bikše (LVA): Lioness, 2018, wood.
Aigars Bikše (Latvia): Lioness, 2018, wood.

The theme of the festival is Art Moves, Art Connects, inviting the public to linger on sculpture and more consciously look at what they encounter in life.

We all see the same reality, yet perceive it in different ways. Take a stroll. Take in the world, as expressed by the artists of Sculptura #2. Artists are moving. Regardless of geographic fronteers, they move us througout their work.
