Enjoy art in Antwerp

Our Belgian coordinator, the art critic Hilde van Canneyt invites you for a cultural tour through Antwerp. With a guided visit to the collection presentations Panamarenko -Transport and Gordon Matta Clark - Museum in Motion, in M HKA museum, and gallery visits in Antwerp, including an artist talk of Leon Vranken.

Panamarenko (1940-2019) was at the same time inventor, engineer, poet, physicist and visionary. In his work, art and technology come together in the form of poetic and ingenious constructions such as airplanes, cars, zeppelins, flying saucers, backpack helicopters, submarines and walking birds.

After studying architecture in New York Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978) choose to explore the limits of architecture and art. With electric grinding discs and chainsaws, he  ‘draws’, as it were, in/on/through walls, beams, ceilings and floors. He handles buildings as if it is sculpture https://www.muhka.be/programme/detail/1546-museum-in-motion-gordon-matta-clark

Leon Vranken (1975) is interested in the relation between art and craft, reflecting on the formality and materiality of the objects he creates – in very diverse materials such as wood, textiles, rope and stone.
