Eja Siepman van den Berg holds a unique position in both Dutch and European art. From the early 1970's onwards, she has positioned herself in an elaborate contexts of figurative sculpture.

At first sight, the human body is Siepman van den Bergs 'prime subject'. But on a closer inspection, Siepman van den Berg transcends the merely figurative. Her body of wordk responds to more fundamental matters of sculpture, to the meaning of scale, symmetry and proportion- a mathematical approach to the organic- and to the instrinsic qualities of her materials, bronze and stone.
