LIGHT\TRACE No. 11

LIGHT\TRACE No. 11 explores the tension between geometry and organic movement, between material presence and immaterial light.

At first glance, the work appears as a strictly geometric screen. Within its deep frame, however, two translucent layers of finely textured black-and-beige fabric reveal a delicate field of fibre optics. The light seems to flow organically across the surface, tracing lines that recall sand shaped by water or currents moving through a landscape.

Each fibre optic is individually positioned and worked by hand. Its subtle irregularity creates a living, almost breathing quality of light. Along the upper edge, the endpoints form a precise sequence of luminous dots, introducing a counterpoint to the softly flowing lines. This dialogue between order and organic movement gives the work its distinctive visual tension.

The black rear layer intensifies the contrast and creates a surprising depth within the translucent fabric. Light appears to emerge from within the material rather than simply illuminate its surface. Despite the depth of the frame, the layered textile gives the sculpture an almost weightless presence.

LIGHT\TRACE No. 11 is both screen and light sculpture: it subtly structures space while creating an intimate, contemplative atmosphere. As the viewer follows the changing lines of light across its two levels, the work invites a slower form of looking - one in which light itself becomes material.
