Woodworm, no. 1

carved red siris (missing/stolen in the Netherlands, designated 'no. 1' after carving second version)

I like the challenge of creating movement from a static block of wood and unlocking the pattern of the grain, which is particularly striking in Australian red siris.

The woodworm is free-standing, so can be viewed from every angle. The form is tactile. Tension arises at the point where two parts just touch.
