glia // inspired

comissioned work, copper & granite

Concept:

Glia // inspired, like the previous works in the Glia series, is based on organic, rhizome-like structures found in the nervous system with its components such as glial cells, dendrites, and neurons.

It is inspired by the complex properties of glial cells, which on the one hand provide structural support for neurons and on the other hand play a supporting and accelerating role in synaptic transmission.

On the other hand, stone comes into play, and not only as an example of possible ways to realize the project, but another group of works—"inspired stones"—is a natural fit:

"The found stone as 'basic' material, the most beautiful metaphor for the timeless...broken from the mountain, worked on its journey, silent witness to constant change, all the way down to the sea, shaped by the ebb and flow of the surf.

Inspired—inspired, stimulated, awakened, breathed in...and ensouled! A kind of making visible."

Here, one thing leads to another: the structure provides support and creates multiple connections simultaneously with the inside and the outside, and at its center, the concentrated essence of our earth is embraced and absorbed.
