Manfred Hellweger

human nails XIII

human nails XIII consists of many individual wire pins that have been connected to one another by targeted welding points, thus combining to form an abstracted, human figure.
Each nail represents a thought, an emotion, or a feeling in a person's life.
All works have in common the reduction to the essentials, which is a metaphor for more mindfulness and contentment.
Manfred Hellweger's credo is not always more, but less of everything.
The artist cast the base from fiber-reinforced and frost-resistant concrete, which makes this work ideal for outdoor use.
The specially made, brushed larch wood formwork transferred the lively wood grain into the concrete base.

With this work, Manfred won the first prize in the Spiekeroog Cultural Foundation's sculpture competition. The sculpture will be on display on the North Sea island of Spiekeroog as part of an open-air exhibition until May 2025.
