The sculpture is a tribute to the fishermen and their families who revolted on August 23 and 24, 1887, because of their poor living conditions.

The statue is a fisherman falling backwards, struck by the deadly violence of the gendarmerie.

There are openings in the body. Like silent brands of the bullet holes that blew the life out of him.

The graceful figure dances the univerdal dance of death to the rhythm of the tides.
