Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Reliefs

Relief Sculpture of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BSO Office, Lighthouse Arts Centre, Poole, Dorset, UK

Diane made this 445cm long plaster relief sculpture after long hours drawing the orchestra in their many rehearsals, and during some of their performances. At the time she was an art student specialising in sculpture in the Environmental Design Department at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art, on the Public Art Course which taught students to make art for public sites. After this relief sculpture was bought and sited, two more commissions came from the BSO to commemorate previous conductors of the orchestra – a bronze of Constantin Silvestri and a concrete relief of Sir Dan Godfrey.
