As early as the First Dynasty, Mafdet has been considered the goddess of judgment, justice, and execution. She is believed to be the first feline goddess.

Associated with Ushabti Mafdet, As Mother Night, she is the unconscious Luna or moon, a representation of the feminine, emotional body. In another myth, she is the mother whose laughter was the thunder and whose tears were the rain goddesses and is a member of the Ennea.
