My Soul

My glass laser etched brain from my MRI scan. Life size.

In 2004, as part of research into dyslexia, at Newcastle University UK, I had my head scanned with an MRI. From those images I made various works, including My Soul, a laser etched image of my brain. It is life-size, with the left and right hemispheres in two separate blocks of glass.

It talks about the self and asks the viewer to reflect upon the exact location of the soul and the origin of our emotions.

My Soul, and the image has been shown extensively world wide and is the cover for the first edition of the play, The Effect by Lucy Prebble.

In May 2013 I had my brain MRI scaned again and 3D printead my brain and made more work.
