Velero Griego

Velero Griego (Greek Sailboat) is a sculpture suspended (hanging) in the hall of the Daniya Hotel, near the sea. Transparency has been sought not to cover the spatial sensations of the different floors (levels). The arms of the sculpture extend radially like ship sails from a single core, creating a sensation of tension and weightlessness.

Greek Sailboat responds to the use of the upper open space of the lobby of a luxury hotel.
The Concept: Transparency. The challenge of this sculpture: create a symbol for the hotel without occupying or covering the ceiling space, as this is the place where the corridors of the guest rooms breathe.
The result is a very aerial sculpture, echoing the materials used in the hotel's railings and elevators. Fabric sails give volume and a final finish reflecting the shapes of the sails of the sports boats docked in the nearby harbor.
The magnificent views from two panoramic elevators allow the 7m-high sculpture to be appreciated.
