Invironmental Art with Sound

The basilica can look back on an eventful history, from its construction to its current use. Each of the six black discs represents a specific time period.
Acoustic scenarios are played continuously via loudspeakers. As soon as viewers approach one of the discs, the individual scenes, which are otherwise perceived in a cacophony, are audible.
The audio was produced especially for this installation, for example the filling of the large wine barrel around the year 1500 or the sounds of filming for ‘The Name of the Rose’ in 1985.
When entering the basilica, the blue lighting gives the impression that the sky is visible through the roof.
