Art should bring joy!
My sculptures embody movement, lightness and elegance. They change their form and their shape dynamically or contemplatively, predictably or chaotically. Perfectly balanced and precisely mounted, they react to even the slightest impulses and set themselves in motion. The seemingly heavy steel appears surprisingly light. This creates an interplay of light, colour, form and reflection that demands attention and invites dialogue.
Being a welding engineer and professor of materials science at OTH Regensburg, Germany. Inspired by the works of different artists, I began building my first kinetic sculptures in 2021. Technical knowledge, craftsmanship and artistic expression come together in the moving objects made of stainless steel. The combination of creativity, design, technology, movement and fun is important to me. Always under the motto: ‘Art should bring joy’.
Moving elements are a common feature of all the sculptures. The movements are initiated by the wind, a motor or even by the people. Some of the artworks are interactive – touchable art. A concept that is unfamiliar to some people, but in the end is very well received by most. When people interact with the sculptures and then move on in a relaxed and cheerful mood very much has been achieved from my side.
