My main focus in my work is the human figure and how to depict there state of mind.
My name is Jana Büttner I am a figurative sculpture from Germany. Working in Florenz (Italy and Salzburg (Austria) The main focus of my work is the human figure and how to depict there state of mind. Building something in space which has not existed there before is a process which fascinates me. The material I am working in is first clay, than I cast in Resin and Bronze. Besides the tactile aspect of the material clay, it also shrinks over time, cracks and begins to weather. This shows a clear connection to human existence. We humans are strong and resilient, that's how nature created us. We are part of it. We are no different from what surrounds us. A constant cycle of decline and growth. Our bodies will fall apart in the end. In my work I want to reflect on the human nature and emotions. It was obvious for me, that I need the complexity of the figure to express that. Creating something 3 Dimensional something touchable, gives me the the opportunity to be able to confront the viewer and make him reflect on his emotions or try to understand them.
