Table made of wood and latex (⌀ 100 cm, H 80 cm)
Two Confetti Boxes II (2017, wood, glass, and paper confetti, H 85 x W 56 x D 15 cm)
The installation consists of two glass-fronted wooden boxes and a table that features a latex membrane instead of a solid tabletop. Each box is filled with single-colored paper confetti, such as blue and red. From below, one can reach into the wooden boxes and remove confetti. As the tightly packed paper is gradually removed, holes and passages form inside the boxes. Then a decision must be made: Visitors can either let the confetti trickle to the floor, toss it into the room, or place it on the table for the next step—using just one color or both, as they prefer. If the elastic tabletop is then pulled down and released, the small paper particles fly through the room in a large fountain, mixing in the air—thus visually blending the two colors into a new shade, such as purple, and scattering throughout the exhibition space. In this way, the work grows out of the boxes and further and further into the room.
