The collection

The museum houses a permanent collection of works by Vorarlberg artists since the 17th. Century and organizes special exhibitions of important artists on the art history of Vorarlberg.

The collection focuses on Vorarlberg's important artistic movements in the last century.

In chronological order, the presentation of the most important Vorarlberg artists begins with works by Oswald Baer, Albert Bechtold, Hubert Berchtold, Stefanie Hollenstein, Edmund Kalb, Angelika Kauffmann, Herbert v. Reyl-Hanisch and Rudolf Wacker.

In the first half of the last century, Vorarlberg artists were new objectivity in the emergence of Expressionism, geometric abstractions and realism parallel to international developments in the field of fine arts from the very beginning.

Socio-political goal: In dialogue, to present changes in the spirit of the times, down-to-earth performance and level of Vorarlberg artists to the public in the course of time in order to promote opinion formation and tolerance.

ARTISTS OF THE PRESENT

After we have successfully completed the cool view „ with works of art created by women with the exhibition “ Self-determined „, as well as a cabinet exhibition “ Women ( ), we are now trying to achieve the public's interest with „ Women of the Present “.

It has already become a tradition to use our collection and loans to create an interplay of the living conditions of a society in a quality, content-related version in an installation in the Rohnerhaus. The exhibition is intended to convincingly strengthen the viewer's importance for economic, ecological and social sustainability in our state society with curiosity and incentive.

The artists convince the Rohnerhaus in their work. The selection of the works would be made with your own feeling. It only serves the goal of realizing our mission statement of the museum with a free word and broad opinion formation as well as the visualization of female creativity. The revolutionary opportunity of art lies in the possibility of the artists to be different, different than we expect, different than we imagine, but created with spirit and soul.

We believe that today in the materialized world of enjoyment and new leisure volume with the demonstration of visual art from the archetype of artificial creation, offers the essence of the sensuality of society to add value to our culture. With its own holdings and loans, the Rohnerhaus stages a philosophical, intellectual game for its visitors and friends of the house.
