Labyrinth of Memories

About art & lost Nature.

From 10 October to 3 November, the Grote Kerk Veere will be exhibiting the artwork Labyrinth of Memories, where art and nature come together, created by artist Bianca Runge.

Exhibition

The artwork in the nave of the Grote Kerk Veere is constructed from trunks and paths. Discarded jewellery and wealth remains proliferate over the trunks, symbolising the consumer society. Cut-open carpets form new paths and remind visitors that other paths can also be taken. Every second, an area the size of a football field is deforested on earth. With her work, Bianca confronts the viewer with the reality of our time, but also offers hope and inspires us to think about the interconnectedness of all living things and the important role that trees play in maintaining our planet.

Bianca Runge

Visual artist Bianca Runge (Naarden 1967) lives and works in the municipality of Veere. She invites visitors to reflect on their relationship with nature. Her work revolves around regenerative thinking, making connections, and stimulating reflection. In this exhibition, felled tree stumps are depicted in aluminum as totems for contemplation and reflection. Perhaps they can grow again and come to life one day.

A visit to the exhibition is included in a ticket for the Experience Grote Kerk Veere.
