What shall we eat tonight?

People concern the natural catastrophe, when they see them on a television. However, their concern will be declined as the news ends and then it will be replaced with their daily life. “OK, now switch off the television, everyone! Time for a dinner! What shall we eat tonight?” “hmm..What shall I wear for the party tomorrow?”
People feel our planet became warmer. However climate change progress little by little and people has an ability to adopt them into new temperature. But when they aware of the impact not on television but in front of them, it will be too late and adopting into new temperature is not endless. It is not necessary to threat people every day by showing problems, but it is also meaningful time to time to bring the issues to concern.

My work centres around human conditions. The theme of human conditions derives from my curiosity on people’s reaction towards the social issues. The topics are often covered with humorous appearances. In my opinion, humour is a good way to express negative topics than direct messages or images. For me humorous appearance seems to cover at first glance the impression of unpleasantness from the serious issues, yet gently leads people to the core. Sometimes the primary focus of these elements is expressed in combining of figures, objects and spaces to create an experimental and narrative installation. The figures and objects in a space are installation but also aimed to have the associations for the viewers.

Perspective series shows my interests on perspective. Analytically, I attempted to show some different way of perspective such as perspective in photo (2D image) transformed into sculpture (3D image). They are mainly expressed by contrasting scales.

Woher kommen sie?
The size is for one figure. Most consumers buy mass-produced meat. Price can be one of the reasons. But many consumers do not concern what they eat or how they are from. People can visit the local farmers and see how they produce/grow up their products. Contrary, many mass- produced food is coming from big factory-like farms and often from foreign countries. People never know how they are produced and what kind of chemicals are in their products. Food scandal occurs time to time. People consider what they eat for short. But when the news gone, their concern fades away. This work is my question to the viewer. Have you ever thought about what you eat?

Wer riecht denn hier so gut?
Due to my illness my body reacts a lot to various chemicals that are often found in everyday products, including organic products. Industry promises their contents are good for hair, fragrance or anti dandruff effect. But the more fascinating advertising is, the more dangerous substances are used. The labels, which I made, shows the chemicals which are often used in common products.

Mr. Water Leak
One day I visited Tate Britain. It was a stormy day and suddenly terrible water leak happened in a room with old master paintings. Before the water leak happened, there was only two visitors there. But after the disaster, massive amount of visitors appeared and took photographs of the water leak. No one showed their interests on paintings. As an artist it was very painful moment but it was a witty reality.

Lamentation of Christ
This work shows my new concept of my perspective series. My interests on the wrong scale of the body parts in art works. The wrong body scale in paintings gives a right optical illusion of the body parts in a human brain. Dead Christ shows smaller feet than those of real’s. When we take a photo of a human from the feet, they are larger than a head. But our brain considers Mantegna’s small feet are right.
