Summer Programme
A Cultural Summer Returns to Museo Vostell Malpartida
From 9 to 29 July 2026, Museo Vostell Malpartida presents a new edition of Under the Stars, its annual summer programme that transforms the nights of Los Barruecos into a unique setting where contemporary art, music and artistic experimentation come together.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Museo Vostell Malpartida (1976–2026), this seventh edition brings together a programme that reflects a wide range of contemporary artistic practices, including electronic music, international video art, flamenco and a multidisciplinary festival inspired by the full moon.
Since its inception, Under the Stars has become one of the highlights of the summer cultural calendar in Extremadura. Its distinctive character lies in the experience it offers: contemporary artistic practice presented in the open air, where the museum takes on a completely different dimension and the landscape of the Los Barruecos Natural Monument becomes an integral part of the performance itself.
Remaining faithful to the vision of Wolf Vostell, the museum's founder and one of the leading innovators of twentieth-century art, the programme supports projects that explore new artistic languages, encourage dialogue across disciplines and make contemporary culture accessible to diverse audiences.

NEW WAVE EXTREMEÑA
The programme opens with performances by BRAVAPOLO, KMKR and MALA SANGRE, three projects representing the new generation of electronic music and audiovisual creation emerging from Extremadura.

VEM – Videoarte em Movimento
The international project curated by Mario Gutiérrez Cru returns to Museo Vostell Malpartida with a selection of works by some of the most acclaimed artists on the international video art scene.
There could hardly be a more fitting venue for this discipline, in which Wolf Vostell was one of its pioneering figures.

Flamenco Recital
Award-winning flamenco singer Esther Merino, accompanied by guitarist Niño Seve, presents a recital celebrating the long-standing relationship between Museo Vostell Malpartida and flamenco, a dialogue that has formed part of the museum's identity since its earliest years.
One of today's leading voices in flamenco performs in a place where tradition and artistic innovation naturally meet.
Wednesday, 29 July · 9:00 pm
PLENA MOON
Inspired by the full moon, PLENA MOON once again connects the historic centre of Malpartida de Cáceres with Museo Vostell Malpartida through a multidisciplinary programme featuring music, performance, video art, sustainable fashion, photography, dance, gastronomy and activities for all ages.
A collective celebration of art, nature and community participation.
Why Visit Under the Stars?
Under the Stars is far more than a summer cultural programme.
It is an invitation to experience Museo Vostell Malpartida from a different perspective, when art extends beyond the galleries, the surrounding landscape becomes part of the stage and contemporary artistic practice enters into dialogue with nature beneath the night skies of Los Barruecos.
Each evening offers a unique experience, yet all share the same ambition: to bring contemporary art closer to audiences, foster meaningful encounters and keep alive the experimental spirit with which Wolf Vostell imagined this museum fifty years ago.
