Vitaliy Datchenko

Vitaliy Datchenko is an artist and sculptor working across installation, sculpture and drawing. His practice returns again and again to the same question: how do we build the images we live inside — the self-images, the shelters, the boundaries — and what happens when those structures stop working and need to be dismantled?

He graduated from the Stieglitz Academy of Art and Design in Saint Petersburg and Don State Technical University, and has participated in exhibitions and art symposia in Russia and across Europe. In projects such as Flowerescence, Imaginary Oecumene and Hic Sunt Leones, he works through ideas of self-perception, inner space and isolation — what it means to face the unfamiliar, and what kind of form that encounter can take. Rather than simply illustrating these ideas, his work gives them a physical presence, turning boundaries, protective forms and imagined territories into something that can be entered, encountered and transformed.

Viitaliy Datchenko has lived and worked in France since 2022.
