SCULPTRESS
The idea of working with garbage arose during a walk by the sea. Through what I found, a concept developed to make visible the almost imperceptible infiltration of plastic into our food chain.
Since 2017, discarded PET bottles, plastic canisters and plastic have formed the source material for most of my installations and sculptures. These are mostly everyday objects that everyone knows and uses - they are collected, cleaned and transformed through further mechanical processing and, above all, through an intensive artistic process.
The cycle in which, for example, useful packaging, i.e. something valuable, becomes something worthless (garbage) through loss of function, is reversed and elevates the worthless to a material and raw material for something beyond the functional. It is a transformation that turns the originally short-lived everyday object into something new with a higher value: secured material that will no longer return to the cycle.
