Alison Lochhead in conversation with Peter Wakelin

Tuesday 27 April 2021, 7pm – 8.15pm

In this live conversation, the artist Alison Lochhead will talk about her nearly fifty years of practice and the themes and concerns that have driven it. Best-known in recent years for her gallery-sized installations of fired earth and poured iron, she has also worked in textiles and recently focused on painting. Some of her works are meditative and personal, reflecting on the human body or the deep history of the land around her. Others evoke global issues and injustices, especially the plight of people in war zones and the desperation of refugees seeking safety.

Alison was born in Cardiff and studied ceramics and weaving before establishing herself professionally in Swansea and Bath in the late 1970s. For the past 25 years she has worked from a hill farm near Tregaron in Ceredigion. However, her perspectives have always been international, drawing on her long experience in social development with women’s organisations and governments in many parts of the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

FREE and open to all. Please register in advance by clicking here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/149673787327/
