Leere Fläche Volumen, RIKI MIJLING/ YANI WANG

The sculptural works of Riki Mijling determine the walls and the space through their sublime expression and their quiet size. The strictly geometric reliefs of fired steel polished with wax, rusty patinated Corten steel and cast iron alternate between closed and open surfaces. Yani Wang presents subjects from the classical Chinese tradition - landscape and nature - in front of a calm, black or white primed backdrop. She works with very large-format, often two-part picture formats. On sheets of paper, wood and canvas, a balanced, dynamic play of forms and colours develops.
