The Online Club: Art for All in Sweden and Switzerland
Humankind has always created outdoor sculptures, as expressions of religious beliefs or symbols of ruling powers. In the 20th century, art in public space became a free and open form, offering pleasure and reflection for all.
Join us in this online event to discover two outstanding open-air sculpture exhibitions and Sculpture Network members: OpenArt in Sweden and Bad Ragartz in Switzerland.
OPENART - The Art Biennial in Ărebro
OpenArt is a contemporary art biennial held every second summer in Ărebro, Sweden, since 2008. It turns the whole city into an open-air gallery, featuring artworks by 100 artists from around the world in streets, parks, and public spaces. The event is free and encourages everyone to explore art in everyday places. OpenArt aims to surprise, inspire, and make contemporary art accessible to all.
Swiss Triennial of Sculpture â Bad Ragartz
Bad Ragartz is one of Europeâs largest open-air sculpture exhibitions, held every three years in Bad Ragaz, Vaduz (Liechtenstein), and the Altes Bad PfĂ€fers in Switzerland. Founded in 2000 by Esther and Rolf Hohmeister, the festival transforms the town into a vast sculpture park, showcasing contemporary art from around the world. Admission is free, making art accessible to everyone and encouraging public interaction with the works. Under the motto âThe âpresentâ â without today, tomorrow there would be no yesterday,â the 2024 edition showcased approximately 450 artworks created by 88 artists from 19 countries, attracting around one million visitors.
