Chiharu Shiota,Silent Word

Japanese-born artist Chiharu Shiota has lived in Berlin since the late 1990s. In her art she deals with universal themes such as life and death, home and fear.  She has designed one of her fascinating installations made of black threads especially for the former high-bay warehouse of the SCHAUWERK. In the center of the room are a chair and a secretary, covered with letters that float on threads to the ceiling and seem to develop a life of their own. The letters expand like a universe of thoughts and emotions, but no one can hear them: This is the subtitle of the presentation "Silent Word".

The exhibition is complemented by objects, a canvas work and drawings.
