Cosmos Marcks: Sculptor Graphics. Donation Thomas Duttenhoefer
Almost all sculptors are also important graphic artists. Editing a printing plate with tools and the need to think precisely about lines are basically the same as creating images. The idea of the multiple, the edition, coincides with the practices of bronze casting. The sculptor Thomas Duttenhoefer (born 1950) is no exception in this respect. But more unusual is his interest in the work of colleagues and their constant appreciation, which have been reflected in a collection built over many years. Around 120 sheets, including Ernst Barlach, Aristide Maillol, Reg Butler and Germaine Richier, are now donated to the Gerhard Marcks Foundation.
