Mexican Fluorite
This Mexican Fluorite Superellipsoid is mounted on a base made of the same stone, a unique feature in many of my sculptures. An ellipsoid is a mathematical equation that rounds over the corners of a square with something called a “Lame Curve.” A superellipsoid equation rounds over the corners of a cube, resulting in a shape very similar to what you see here – minus the void in the center.
